This “How do Organisations Learn?” recorded webinar animated by Ms. Erika Maclaughlin, Evaluation Officer , at the African Development Bank looks at theoretical perspectives from management science and industrial organizational psychology to identify a theory for how organizations learn. Reflecting on IDEV’s own experience, Ms. Maclaughlin explores the implications these perspectives have on planning for learning and the use of evaluation activities to contribute to the African Development Bank wider organizational learning agenda.

This document provides practical approaches for Independent Evaluation Offices (IEOs) of multilateral development institutions to strengthen the treatment of gender equality and women’s empowerment in their evaluation programs, and more specifically in evaluations of projects.
It is intended for three main audiences: staff who are relatively new to development evaluation, and particularly to gender evaluation; staff with more experience in development evaluation as well as gender evaluation; and managers who must lead the gender evaluations.

In 2016, IDEV exceeded its yearly targets. It completed 11 high-level evaluations, including a corporate evaluation, the Comprehensive Evaluation of the Bank’s Development Results (CEDR), seven country strategy and program evaluations (CSPEs), a country program case study, a regional integration strategy evaluation (RISE) for Eastern Africa, and an evaluation synthesis on Private Sector Development (PSD). It also completed two impact evaluations of country rural water and sanitation programs.
