On 13 December 2019, the interim Executive Committee of the newly established Zambian National Chapter of APNODE held its inaugural meeting in Lusaka, Zambia. The meeting was chaired by Hon. (Mr.) Stanley Kakubo, Interim Chairperson of the Zambian National Chapter of APNODE. Others in attendance included Hon. (Mrs.) Attracta Chisangano, Hon. Calls for governments, development partners, and the private sector to step-up efforts in achieving Africa’s transformative agenda is reverberating. In particular, the adoption of the African Union Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the same year, 2015, have been widely praised for having the ‘special powers’ to take Africa to the promise land of zero poverty and hunger, highly skilled human capital, and better infrastructure.

This report presents the key findings from the evaluation of a cluster of nine agricultural value chain interventions by the African Development Bank over the period 2005–2016. The nine case studies were conducted as inputs to the formative evaluation titled “AfDB Support for Agricultural Value Chains Development: Lessons for the Feed Africa Strategy,” which was completed in December 2017.

This report presents a summary of findings, conclusions and recommendations from an evaluation of the Bank's Country Strategies and Program in Zambia over the period 2002–2015. The evaluation was conducted to support the preparation of the Zambia Country Strategy 2016–2020 and contribute to IDEV's comprehensive evaluation of the Bank's development results (CEDR). The evaluation seeks to assess the relevance and performance of the Bank's strategic interventions in Zambia and identify findings, conclusions and recommendations to inform strategies and operations going forward.

The evaluation of AfDB-funded power interconnection projects covers a cluster of energy sector operations approved by the Bank during the period 1999-2013. The selection of power interconnection was driven by the fact that it can significantly contribute to regional integration and help reduce the cost of electricity generation, thereby improving the overall energy supply in Africa. During the period under study, the Bank approved 48 projects related to power interconnection, amounting to UA 822 million.
